Nails: Zebra holographic nails.

Hello guys!

Today's offering, if something that just, kinda, fell together. I was going for some wavy strips on the nails, 

but the further along I got, they more like up close zebra stripes it looked, so I decided that as to just help it along and finish the design up as zebra stripes.. So here is the finished manicure..

 

Nails: Sculpting and tips (acrylics)

Hello guys and girls, 

 

I am studying to become a nail tech, so I thought I would update some pictures of the first nails I have done with acrylic, and knowing what I am meant to be doing. Now I am not saying that these are right, or the best.. they are just the first 3 sets of nails I have ever done,I thought it would be nice to document the progress of my nails, so here goes the photos. 

 The two sets of nails above, are the first two sets of acrylic nails I have done on myself. They have been applied with tips, and a clear acrylic. (This is because that is what I have to practice with, I hope to be moving on to the classic pink and white)

This set is my first ever attempt at sculpting nails, so there is no tip used here.I think I like this method, but I will need to continue to practice both ways, so that I can be competent in both ways, as to offer any future clients the best service I can, to suit their needs. 

ALL of these nails are too thick. I need to practice getting the shape, and making the tips nice and thin. They should be about the thickness of a credit card, and I think that these could be about 50% thinner, but I need to make sure I am not compromising the structural integrity of the nail, by making it too thin so that the nail snaps. This could also be helped by creating a better C curve, as a good C curve will create a stronger nail. My nails are rather flat, and lack much of a C curve, so I will need to concentrate on learning to create that beautifully.

Nails: free hand Union Jack

Hello guys!

So, it's the queens jubilee this weekend, and I thought I would jump on the band wagon, and do a union jack manicure. 

This picture was taken before I cleaned up, which I find I need to do after nail art that  touches the edges. I have seen lots of these around at the moment, some done with tape, some done with transfers or foils, and some done free hand. I decided to go the free hand route to do this design. I won't bother to tell you guys how to do this, as there are currently a billion tutorials out there for the union jack manicure.

Nails: "in gold blood" part 2.

A quick update to the post I did a few days ago..

This is what happened when I added an extra coat to my nails that I had on the other day.

In normal light, you can't really see any of the gaps between the glitter.

I think it looks a bit like a broken version of minx gold lightening. I was super shiny, and I really enjoyed wearing it after I had stepped up the glitter content, and made it really special!

Nails: chinchilly with leopard print, over broadway nail real life brush on gel.

Today's nails are the result of a few experiments.. There are a lot of thing people like to try do at home, rather than pay for them to be done to save money, and I am one the them. I will give anything a go when it come to hair, make-up, and nails at home. I always dye my own hair, and have even tried cutting it (that one is best left to the pros!). So when I saw a nail extension kit that promised salon nails at home, I thought "why not?". The box promised it would be easy with no filing.

Here is the results.. 

After I did the gel extensions I put Essie Chinchilly with some gold leopard print.

Nails: "In gold blood"

Actually, it's just called Gold. The no7 summer collection is out, and the nail polishes in the collection are, a gold and a sliver glitter top coats. I have never been the biggest fan on No7 nail polishes, but they seem to have changed the formulation in the last few years, the brush is better too! but when I saw this in boots I had to have it. I was helping my best friend when she was having a bit of a problem and she picked it up for me as a "thank you" which was very lovely of her <3 

..So here the picture..

this is it just "gold" on it own. I think it will look fab over a pale pink, like OPI's pinking of you or Pink Friday.. Which are similar, post on that coming soon. 

Gold, is a clear polish with both tiny, and larger pieces of glitter. I am guessing that it will be limited edition because it is in the summer collection, but I couldn't say for sure.

Nails: Holographic nail polish comparison.

Ever since I picked up a bottle of GOSH holographic nail polish, I have been searching for another one.

Holographic nail polish aren't easy to come by in the U.K unless you are willing to pay a lot of money and pick them up online. 

Gosh holographic nail polish. Without topcoat.

CONS:

-Top coat spoils the effect.

-chips VERY quickly (hours)

- Expensive online.

-Hard to apply.

PROS:

- Pretty! The effect is amazing. Photos do not do it justice.
